About CJM Education
Education can be a challenging place and leading a school can be a lonely place - especially when change is required. This is when you may need to call for assistance. I provide schools, Multi Academy Trusts and governing bodies in the North West of England with specialist school improvement assistance.
I'm Chris Major and I have years of experience in supporting and challenging schools to develop and deliver better outcomes for their students and ensure they are compliant in their statutory responsibilities. School Improvement
I provide support to schools with targeted improvement services focused on key areas that shape and develop a school's climate and student outcomes. My expertise spans reward and behaviour policies, attendance strategies, and safeguarding systems—ensuring that your school’s culture is consistent, inclusive, and rooted in high expectations. I work with leaders to review existing approaches and co-develop practical, evidence-informed strategies that enhance both staff confidence and student engagement.
My safeguarding support goes beyond compliance. We help schools strengthen safeguarding policies, develop whole-school safeguarding culture, and embed Prevent strategies through quality training and implementation guidance. Whether you're refreshing your e-safety approach or supporting staff to better identify and respond to concerns, I ensure your team is equipped to safeguard pupils in both physical and digital environments.

Investigating Officer
I provide professional and impartial staff investigation services for schools across the north of England. When concerns or allegations arise involving school staff, it’s crucial that investigations are handled sensitively, thoroughly, and in line with statutory guidance. I support schools by conducting fair and transparent investigations that help maintain trust, safeguard pupils, and protect the rights of all parties involved.
My service is particularly valuable where a school needs an independent investigator to manage complex or sensitive cases. I am experienced in working alongside external agencies including the police, Children’s Social Care and the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) service, ensuring that all processes comply with Keeping Children Safe in Education and local safeguarding procedures. My role is to support the school’s duty of care while respecting confidentiality and due process at every stage.
I take a trauma-informed and child-centred approach to investigations, ensuring that pupil welfare is always the top priority. At the same time, I understand the pressures leaders face when managing allegations or misconduct involving staff, and I aim to reduce stress by guiding schools through each step—from initial fact-finding to outcome reporting and, where necessary, referrals or disciplinary recommendations.
Whether your school requires support with a one-off incident or a series of concerns, I offer timely, professional, and discreet investigation services tailored to your context. My goal is to help you manage difficult situations with integrity, clarity, and confidence, protecting your students, staff and reputation.
As a current Teacher Regulation Agency panel member and hearing chair, should a referral be required, I understand the process and I will guide you through each step.
Major Incident Response
When a major incident occurs in a school — a serious safeguarding concern, staff misconduct allegation, or a critical behavioural event — a swift, coordinated, and expert response is essential. These situations can have far-reaching implications for students, staff, leadership teams, and the wider community. My Major Incident Response service is designed to provide immediate, practical support during these high-pressure times, ensuring that schools manage incidents with clarity, confidence, and compliance.
I bring a calm, experienced approach to complex and often distressing circumstances. I will assist with initial triage, independent investigation, liaison with external agencies, and post-incident reviews. I work discreetly alongside senior leaders and governors to ensure that actions are proportionate, legally sound, and in line with safeguarding responsibilities and HR best practice.

Safeguarding and Safeguarding Reviews
At CJM Education, I specialise in providing expert safeguarding support and comprehensive safeguarding reviews for schools across England. Our mission is to ensure every child learns in a safe, supportive environment by helping educational institutions meet and exceed their statutory safeguarding responsibilities. Whether you're a primary, secondary, or special education setting, I bring deep knowledge of current legislation, guidance, and best practice to support your safeguarding culture and systems.
Since its introduction in 2014 KICSE has grown into a large and important document of almost 200 pages. This critical and statutory document is complex and its implementation can be challenging - especially for an inexperienced DSL. I will work with your DSL to help the understand the implementation of their responsibilities and reduce your school's exposure to the risk of error.
